Gulf States Toyota Recognized by Forbes As One of America’s Best Midsize Employers

Gulf States Toyota, part of The Friedkin Group, included on annual list of top companies for employee satisfaction

HOUSTON, Texas – Gulf States Toyota (GST), one of the world’s largest independent distributors of Toyota vehicles and parts, has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers in 2018 in its annual ranking of the top companies for employee satisfaction. The list includes the top 500 midsize companies in the U.S. with between 1,000 and 5,000 employees.

In developing the rankings, Forbes partnered with consumer research firm Statista to survey more than 30,000 employees at companies employing at least 1,000 people across 25 industry sectors. Questions addressed topics such as working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image. The most weighted question asked respondents if they would recommend their own company to others. Respondents were also asked which other companies they would or would not recommend. GST and The Friedkin Group have earned numerous accolades for their achievements and culture. For six consecutive years, GST has been honored as Houston’s top private company by the Houston Chronicle on its “Chron 100” list. The Friedkin Group was just named one of the Healthiest Employers for 2018 by the Houston Business Journal, received the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America Award in 2015 and 2016 by Healthiest Employers® and earned a Platinum Achievement for being a Fit-Friendly Workplace in 2015 by the American Heart Association.

Founded in 1969 and based in Houston, GST has more than 2,000 employees and is the second largest independent distributor of Toyota vehicles and parts in the U.S., serving more than 150 dealers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. The company’s headquarters along the Energy Corridor features amenities such as an onsite café, fitness center, wellness programs, postal services, a walking trail, fishing pond and access to local parks. GST also supports a wide range of charitable initiatives that allow associates to become actively involved in the community.
